From “Personal Reflection” : An Illustration and Art Exhibition
'Not Me' Watercolor on illustration board © 2010
“Personal Reflection” is a collection of art expressing surreal and a dream like world that can be interpreted at your own discretion.
This particular show exhibits some of the early works of my career as an artist, as well as the recent. I especially enjoy painting and sketching faces as the main focus of my work. The expression that can be captured through another person’s eyes or mouth, whether it’s partial or whole, can reach out to the onlooker and leave a lasting image. Those faces can remind you of another person, place or time. A particular portrait can even intrigue you enough to want to meet the subject.
Some of the subjects are not necessarily an actual portrait, but an interpretation of my inner child, some fears and just what I love.
My inspiration truly comes from those who are in my life, my family, and from the very private world I express within myself. I have learned to share this part of me more so to those who are part of my life, who enabled me to find the courage to share it publicly.
It brings me great pleasure to have these works of art on display for you to enjoy, and I hope they can inspire and stir up the creativity in all of those whom they touch. I know for me personally, having this show is inspiring me to work on new projects and to continue to learn how to let go a part of myself even more.”
